Zamfara PWDs Applaud AGILE, Urge Support for the Deaf

People With Disabilities (PWDs) in Zamfara North have commended the AGILE project for including them in its Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) initiative and other components of the project aimed at boosting education in the state.

The commendation was made during a one-day advocacy meeting held in collaboration with the Zamfara State Ministry of Education to raise awareness among education stakeholders about the AGILE CCT program.

Malama Karima Sama’ila, who represented the Zamfara state PWDs’ Chairman, Dr. Bilyaminu Umar, praised AGILE for their inclusive approach but appealed for special attention to be given to persons with hearing impairment (Deaf), citing the unique educational needs they face.

She noted that the initiative, if fully supported, would greatly enhance education and stimulate economic growth in underserved communities.

Ummu Salma Abubakar, the Component Lead of the Conditional Cash Transfer of AGILE Project, called on all stakeholders to support the project’s objectives and ensure its smooth implementation.

Also speaking at the event were Hajia Maimuna Dankwangila from the Social Norms unit, Binta Ayuba from the Grievance Redress Mechanism team, and Sirajo Ibrahim from the ICT unit.

They emphasized the need for fairness and transparency in the implementation of the program and urged participants to educate beneficiaries on the program’s goals.Some participants suggested special incentives for school-level coordinators to motivate and sustain their involvement.

District Head of Dan Jekan Mashema also appealed to AGILE to consider a special package for school principals involved in the program
