The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Employment (AGILE) has engaged civil society organizations (CSOs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and faith-based organizations (FBOs) in an enrollment drive campaign to boost school attendance for girls across Zamfara State.

The engagement meetings, held across the seven educational zones, brought together traditional and religious leaders, teachers, and other key stakeholders to discuss the project’s implementation.

In Kaura Namoda Zone that consists of Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji local government areas, the team lead, Alhaji Nura Yusuf, explained the core mandates of AGILE, a World Bank-supported initiative in collaboration with the Zamfara State Government.
He emphasized the project’s goal of enhancing access, retention, and completion of secondary education for girls.
“AGILE ensures that girls not only enroll in school but remain and complete their education while also expanding empowerment opportunities for them,” Yusuf stated.

Malama Zainab Abdulrazak further highlighted that the project would provide financial support to the beneficiaries to enable them to improve their livelihoods while pursuing education.
Applauding the initiative, the Senior District Head of Kaura Namoda Emirate, Alhaji Nasiru Abubakar Marafa, called for more focus on the empowerment aspect of the project. He urged stakeholders to patronize girls who have undergone skills acquisition training under the initiative.

Other district heads and religious leaders, including Alhaji Samaila Halilu, Malam Junaidu Usman, and Malam Buhari Kasuwar Daji, expressed their support for AGILE.
They commended its role in giving out-of-school girls a second chance at education and pledged to ensure the project’s success.
The stakeholders’ engagement meetings were held simultaneously across the seven educational zones of Zamfara State, reinforcing a collective commitment to improving girls’ education and empowerment.
