The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), 1 Brigade Chapter, has commemorated the 2025 World Mental Health Day with a series of humanitarian and awareness activities in Gusau.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, NAOWA 1 Brigade Chapter, Mrs. Charity Okonkwo.
The event, held within the Gusau Cantonment, focused on promoting mental well-being and emotional resilience among military families. It began with the donation of food items and clothing materials to widows of fallen heroes.
Zonal Coordinator, Mrs. Ramat Mustapha Jimoh, said the gesture reflected NAOWA’s commitment to supporting families who lost loved ones in service to the nation. The widows expressed gratitude and offered prayers for the association and the Nigerian Army.
As part of the activities, Mrs. Jimoh also visited the 1 Brigade Medical Centre, where she donated items to patients receiving treatment. The gesture was warmly received and appreciated by both patients and medical staff.

The association further paid a condolence visit to the immediate past Magajia of the Gusau Cantonment, who recently lost her husband, Late Master Warrant Officer Bako, showing solidarity with the bereaved family.
A lecture on mental health delivered by Captain C.N. Okeke, Acting Commanding Officer of the 1 Brigade Medical Centre, stressed the importance of early detection of stress-related disorders and the role of family support in maintaining emotional balance.
The activities ended with a Mental Health Awareness Walk and physical exercise session to emphasize the connection between physical fitness and mental stability.
