As part of activities marking the 2023 Nigerian Army Day Celebration, Headquarters 8 Division Nigerian Army has conducted a Public Speaking Engagement with students of Federal Government College Sokoto today (Monday) 3 July 2023.
The Public Speaking Engagement is an awareness programme designed to project the image of the Nigerian Army highlight on selection and recruitment process into the NA,, requirements for selection and Civil-Military Cooperation Projects embarked by the NA.
The programme which was held in the School’s Auditorium witnessed impressive attendance as students turned out en-mas to take part in such a rare engagement programme organized by the Nigerian Army.
Speaking during the Engagement, the Commander 8 Division Garrison Brig Gen Taye Ahmed who spoke on behalf of the General Officer Commanding 8 Division Maj Gen Godwin Micheal Mutkut explained to the audience that the NA is one of the best organizations that avails individuals the opportunity to achieve their life desires.
He informed them that being in the Army goes beyond wagging war while emphasizing that there are other areas of interest in the Army that provide services other than fighting a war. He went further to enunciate to the listening audience the various Corps in the NA and their roles, selection and criteria for recruitment or enlistment including the benefits one stands to gain when serving in the NA which he said is a noble profession.
He also outlined some of the humanitarian activities the Nigerian Army engages in as measures to promote Civil-Military Cooperation such as free medical outreach among others.
The event was a huge success as evident in the massive interest shown by students after watching a 20-minute clip on the evolution, disposition and prospects of the Nigerian Army.
