Ramadan: Sen Yari sets to distribute food items to 250,000 households in Zamfara

In his bid to provide succour to needy and other households in Zamfara state during Ramadan fasting, the former governor of the state and senator representing Zamfara west senatorial district, Alh. Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar is set to feed 250,000 households across the state.

In a statement made available to SMARTS NEWS by the Chairman, publicity committee Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad,

Danmadamin Birnin Magaji said Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar is set to Provide assorted foodstuffs made up of Rice, Millet, Sugar and Maize to the People of the State irrespective of Political climes in an attempt to allow them begin the holy month with relative ease.

“Under the arrangement which has been perfected by the Main distribution committee headed by Hon. Lawal M. Liman (Gabɗon Ƙaura), 17,500 Households in each of the 13 out of 14 Local government Areas of the State are to receive the said items while  22,500 households are targeted in Gusau Local Government Area (the state capital).” Danmadami explained.

Presiding over the meeting of the committee in Gusau recently, Hon. Lawal M Liman revealed that three additional items such as Rice, Sugar and Millet were added to the previous program that saw to the distribution of Only Maize because of the significance of the holy month of Ramadan.

He further explained that a minimum of 1,300 beneficiaries would be drawn from each of 147  Wards of the State while the remaining beneficiaries will be drawn from local government headquarters without Political Party consideration, adding that the gesture was aimed at reaching out to the needy especially orphans, widows and divorcees.

“In order to enable beneficiaries access the items successfully, each District will have a representative in the Local government distribution committee who shall be persons with proven integrity.” Lawal M Liman stated.

The Chairman maintained that Local Government Committees have been given three weeks from now to conclude enumeration of the beneficiaries in their respective areas of jurisdiction and submit their report to Zonal Committees for onward submission to the main committee for the smooth commencement of the distribution exercise.

He noted that, at the end of the exercise, it’s expected that 250,000 beneficiaries will have been covered across Zamfara State.
