OPHD troops kill scores of Bandits, recover Weapons, Assets in Zamfara

In a continued effort to restore peace and security in the Northwest region, the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) launched a successful offensive against terrorist bandits in Zamfara State. 

In a Press release signed by the information officer of the operation Hadarin Daji OPHD, Lieutenant Suleiman Omale said, in the early Friday morning, on April 12th, 2024, the troops effectively dominated the Babban Doka, Gobirawar Challi, and Kabaro axis under Maru Local Government Area, engaging in a fierce gun battle with the terrorists.

The courageous troops from Dansadau Forward Operating Base demonstrated exceptional bravery, resulting in the killing of 12 terrorists, while others fled with injuries sustained from the encounter.

Lt Omale noted that following the operation, a thorough mop-up patrol was conducted, yielding significant recoveries of weapons and other assets.

Among the confiscated items were 1 AK-47 rifle, 1 magazine, 2 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 1 locally made gun, 1 Dane gun, and 18 cows. Additionally, 10 motorcycles used by the terrorists were seized and destroyed on the spot.

Brigadier General S Ahmed, the Commander of 1 Brigade and Sector 1 OPHD, lauded the unwavering commitment and gallantry exhibited by the troops. He urged them to maintain their momentum until complete normalcy is restored in the region.

Acknowledging the strategic leadership and support provided, Brigadier General S Ahmed extended his gratitude to Major General GM Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, and Commander of Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), for their instrumental role in guiding the troops towards fulfilling their mandate.

This decisive operation underscores the determination of OPHD in ensuring the safety and security of citizens, as efforts continue to eradicate terrorist activities in Zamfara State and the wider Northwest region.
