Police rescue 5 University students few hours after their abduction in Zamfara

Police operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command have unconditionally rescued two males and three females students of the federal University Gusau who were abducted today from their rented apartments of Damba area of Gusau local government in Zamfara state.

In a press release made available to Radio Nigeria in Gusau by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Yazid Abubakar said the bandits stormed the students rented accomodation in Damba area today (Friday) robbed the landlord and whisked away with students.

“Today 19 th May,2023 at about 0130hrs armed men suspected to be kidnappers went to Sabon Gari area of Damba village of Gusau LGA and invaded into the house of one Isah mai bread and Collected the sum of two hundred thousand naira ,(200,000) from him and also proceeded to the Student apartment of the area and abducted two male Students namely Gebriel Oluwatobi ‘M’ and Matthew Olafemi ‘M’and three female Students namely Debora Emmanue ‘F’, Blessing Matthew ‘F’ and Comfort Olola ‘F’ to unknown destination” the PPRO said.

He explained that, On receiving the information the Divisional Police officer, DPO, Damba Division mobilized the striking force of the division for search and rescue operations and rescued two of the victims that included  Blessing Matthew ‘F’ and Comfort Olola ‘F’ who were taken to police clinic for treatment, Meanwhile the Command reinforced the  striking force of the  division to rescue the remaining victims.

ASP Yazid said the  search and rescue team later intercepted the bandits at Karazau forest of Damba village at about 1300hrs, on sighting the police, took to their hills and abandoned the remaining three Students.

He noted that both the five victims taken to Hospital for Medical treatment and later reunited with their relatives as efforts is on top gear with the view of arresting the fleeing suspects.

Yazid added that the Commissioner of Police Zamfara  state Police Command CP Mohammed Bunu urged the good people of the state to assist the police and other security agencies with timely and credible information so as to restore peace and normalcy to the State.
