Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved the appointment of three qualified citizens to spearhead two critical state government agencies and a major development project. The strategic appointments are designed to bolster the state government’s ongoing reforms and enhance service delivery across vital sectors, including public health, agriculture, livestock development, and community-based interventions.
According to a press statement released by the Senior Special Assistant on Media in the Office of the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Suleman Ahmad Tudu, the announcements were officially disclosed by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, who noted that all the appointments take immediate effect.
Under the new deployment, Dr. Muhammad Habibu Yelwa has been appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Substance Abuse and Control Agency. Dr. Yelwa is a seasoned medical practitioner and administrator with a rich history of public service, having previously served as a Permanent Secretary across several ministries where he drove major policy and institutional reforms.
In the same vein, Dr. Usman Ismaila Gusau has been named the Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Livestock Agency. Dr. Gusau brings over twenty-five years of professional experience as a veterinary medicine specialist and public health expert, with a strong background in veterinary services, epidemiology, and public sector administration.
Furthermore, the Governor approved the reappointment of Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammed Nakwada as the State Project Coordinator for the Zamfara State Agricultural and Community Development Project (ZACADEP). Alhaji Nakwada is an experienced agricultural development expert with decades of experience in agricultural extension and project management, particularly within IFAD-supported programmes and his current role with the ISDB ZACADEP.
Governor Lawal has charged the newly appointed officials to fully deploy their wealth of knowledge, administrative experience, and specialized expertise to drive impactful development. He urged them to remain dedicated to their respective assignments in total alignment with his administration’s overarching Rescue Agenda.
