The Zamfara State Police Command has successfully foiled a potential tragedy after neutralizing an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by bandits along the Kunchin Kalgo axis of Tsafe Local Government Area. The successful operation took place on Saturday afternoon following a swift response by security operatives.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the explosive device was discovered around 4:15 PM. Operatives from the Command’s Violence Crime Response Unit, alongside the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, safely unearthed and destroyed the device.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the bandits had strategically positioned the IED to cause maximum casualties among commuters and innocent road users. The disaster was averted due to the command’s robust community engagement strategy, which yielded timely and credible intelligence from local residents.
