Governor Lawal Commissions Renovated Girls’ Arabic School

Governor Dauda Lawal has officially inaugurated the newly renovated Government Girls’ Arabic School in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

Speaking during the event on Wednesday, the governor urged the Ministry of Education, school agencies, and management to maintain the upgraded facilities.

According to a statement by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, major parts of the school were remodeled. These include two administration blocks, four classroom blocks, a kitchen, dining area, library, mosque, ICT center, laboratories, toilets, and a school orchard.

The governor explained that the school, which is among the oldest in the region, had suffered a fire outbreak that destroyed five hostel blocks. He said the renovation began in January 2024 and later expanded to include more facilities.

“In total, 94 structures were completed within 13 months, including mechanical and electrical works,” the governor said.

He described the project as part of his administration’s efforts to revive education through the declared state of emergency in the sector.

Governor Lawal added that similar work is ongoing in boarding schools across the state to improve learning environments for students.
