Sokoto State University (SSU) has promoted 5 lecturers to the Professorial ranks and 3 others to the rank of Senior lecturers across different disciplines that include Chemistry, Hausa, Computer Science, Arabic, Biological Sciences, and Education.
This was disclosed in a press statement released by the information officer of the University, Zayyanu Shehu on Saturday.
Mr Shehu says the promotion was approved on Saturday during a Special meeting of the Governing Council of the University, under the Chairmanship of Engr. Bello Suleiman.
“Those promoted are Dr. Muhammad Sirajo and. Dr. Mansur Yahaya Ibrahim, both as Professors in the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry; and Dr. Mansur Aliyu has been promoted to Professor in the Department of Computer Science. Dr. Aliyah Adamu Ahmad was elevated to Professor in the Department of Nigerian Languages; and Dr. Sirajo Muhammad Sokoto promoted to the rank of Professor in the Department of Arabic & Islamic Studies.
“Similarly, those promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturers are Dr. Adamu Abdullahi of the Department of Biological Sciences; while Dr. Nasiru Abubakar Katami and Dr. Bashar Sa’adu Isa, are both of the Department of Educational Foundation,” the statement read.
While rejoicing with the promoted lecturers, the Vice-chancellor of the University Prof. Bashir Garba, MFR has changed them to be alive to their responsibilities saying that they were promoted following recommendations by their respective external assessors.
