Sokoto State Government has appraised security agencies for their determined and continued onslaught against bandits terrorizing locals in the state, even as they warned of potential infiltration for refuge.
Giving the warning in a statement signed Colonel Ahmed Usman (rtd) the Special Adviser to Governor Ahmed Aliyu on Security Matters, the state government said the ongoing joint military operations have been a huge success as known high ranking bandits leaders are been neutralized and their foot soldiers disorganized.
While warning residents both at the local and metropolis to be vigilant, Col. Usman said the deadly blows on the enclaves of these terrorists led to the rescue of some kidnapped victims and at the same time posed a potential threat of infiltration by some fleeing terrorists.
Col. Usman who insisted that security is everybody’s business, further appealed to all and sundry to promptly report any suspicious activities within their communities.
Part of his statement read, “As security forces increase pressure on the bandits, some of them are fleeing to other areas with injured members. We are raising awareness to ensure our people remain alert, as these bandits may attempt to hide in villages or seek medical treatment at local clinics under disguise.
“This proactive measure aligns with the governor’s nine-point agenda to create a safer and more economically viable Sokoto State.
“The state government remains determined to work collaboratively with security operatives to protect citizens and maintain peace in the state,” Col. Usman assured.
