OPHD Troops Kill 2 Bandits in Zamfara

Troops from 1 Brigade and Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West) Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) in Zamfara state have killed two bandits and recovered 1 motorcycle. 

In a statement by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Suleiman Omale, the operation was initiated following credible intelligence reports regarding violent extremist activities in the region. The troops swiftly responded and engaged the armed elements in a fierce gunfight, resulting in the elimination of two of the attackers. The remaining bandits retreated in disarray.

“On August 16, 2024, under the leadership of Brigadier General TM Opurum, troops successfully neutralized two bandits during a confrontation in the Unguwar Sarkin Musulmi area of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area (LGA).” Lt Omale said.

He noted that, in the aftermath of the encounter, the troops conducted a thorough mop-up operation, recovering an operational motorcycle used by the bandits. The area has since been secured, with troops maintaining a strong presence and conducting patrols to ensure the continued safety of local residents.
