The Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by the Sokoto State Government to investigate the activities of the immediate past administration of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has submitted its final report.
Presenting the report to Governor Ahmad Aliyu at the Government House in Sokoto, the Chairman of the Commission, Justice Mu’azu Abdulkadir Pindiga, disclosed that the Commission uncovered financial irregularities and abuse of office amounting to ₦117,235,207,099.99 during the previous administration.

Justice Pindiga stated that since its inauguration, the Commission conducted its assignment with honesty, diligence, and fairness, ensuring strict adherence to its terms of reference without fear or favour.
He explained that during the course of its sittings, the Commission received 31 memoranda from public and private institutions, agencies, organisations, and individuals across the state. According to him, all submissions were carefully examined in line with the mandate of the Commission.
The Chairman emphasized that the Commission’s work was not intended to witch-hunt any individual but to establish facts in the interest of justice and good governance.
He further revealed that the Commission requested extensions beyond its initial two-month mandate, which Governor Ahmad Aliyu graciously approved until the assignment was successfully concluded.
On behalf of the members and counsel of the Commission, Justice Pindiga thanked the Governor for the confidence reposed in them and the opportunity to serve the people of Sokoto State.
In his response, Governor Ahmad Aliyu commended the Chairman and members of the Commission for their diligence and professionalism in carrying out their assignment within the given terms of reference.
The Governor recalled his earlier commitment to the people of Sokoto State to uphold transparency, accountability, and trust in governance, noting that the report aligns with that promise.
He assured that the report would be treated with the seriousness it deserves and that appropriate actions would be taken in the overall interest of the state.
Governor Aliyu added that the findings of the Commission would significantly contribute to strengthening governance, promoting development, and safeguarding the future of generations yet unborn in Sokoto State.
He expressed the gratitude of the Sokoto State Government and its people to the Chairman and members of the Commission for their dedicated service.
