The Zamfara State House of Assembly has received the Auditor General’s Report on the accounts of the fourteen local government councils for the year 2023.
The report was deliberated during today’s plenary session.
The motion to debate the report was presented by the House Majority Leader, Honourable Bello Muhammad Mazawaje Tsafe, and seconded by the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Adamu Aliyu Gummi.
Honourable Bello Muhammad Mazawajje emphasized that the presentation of the Auditor General’s report is crucial for enabling the state legislature to deliberate and take necessary actions.
Members of the Assembly, including Honourable Rilwanu Marafa Nagambo of Anka and Honourable Mikailu Aliyu Dangulbi of Maru South, highlighted the importance of thoroughly examining the report to ensure its quality and accuracy before approval.
They suggested that the House Public Accounts Committee be assigned the responsibility of a detailed study of the report to ensure it meets acceptable standards.
After an extensive debate, Speaker Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki mandated the Public Accounts Committee to scrutinize the Auditor General’s Report on the fourteen local government councils’ accounts for 2023 and report back with recommendations for necessary actions.
In a related matter, the House, addressing an urgent public issue, called on all relevant authorities to provide statements of account and all documents related to pension payments in Zamfara State to its relevant committees.
This move, presented by Honourable Rilwanu Marafa Nagambo Anka, received support from members representing Zurmi East and Birnin Magaji, Honourable Halliru Abdullahi Kuturu, and Nura Dahiru Sabon Birni.
