Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have foiled a terrorist attack in Rijau Local Government Area of Niger State, killing several insurgents and recovering arms and equipment during a joint operation on 22 July 2025.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Media Information Officer of the operation, Captain David Adewusi, on 23 July 2025. He said the terrorists were intercepted while advancing from the Baban Doka axis of Maru LGA in Zamfara State toward Ragada and Warari communities in Niger.
The troops, drawn from the Mariga and Zuru sectors, engaged the terrorists near Inana Village in a coordinated ground and air assault. The air component provided surveillance and launched targeted strikes that supported the ground troops’ efforts.
During the operation, the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, a magazine with five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 18 motorcycles, and several communication devices. The terrorists’ mission to attack communities and rustle livestock was completely foiled.

Unfortunately, one soldier lost his life in the line of duty.
Captain Adewusi reaffirmed the task force’s commitment to ridding the region of terrorists and called on residents to provide credible information to aid ongoing military efforts.
