Former Zamfara State Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, has approved the delivery of 746 trucks of assorted food items for distribution to residents of Zamfara State as part of this year’s Ramadan welfare package.
According to Hon. Ibrahim Muhammad, Chairman of the Publicity Committee, the gesture is aimed at easing hardship for people of the state during the holy month.
The Chairman of the Senator Abdulaziz Yari Palliatives State Distribution Committee, Dr. Lawal M. Liman (Gabdon Kaura), said 628 of the trucks are meant for residents across the state, regardless of political affiliation.
He added that 118 trucks of rice will be distributed through the All Progressives Congress (APC) polling unit committees across the 147 political wards in the state as the first phase of the exercise.
Dr. Liman explained that each of the 14 local government areas will receive 45 trucks of assorted food items.He further disclosed that about 315,000 beneficiaries have been captured for the exercise, which is expected to begin before the start of Ramadan.
He urged all officials involved in the distribution to strictly follow the approved guidelines to ensure the assistance reaches those who need it most.
