Zamfara APC Condoles families of slain ‘Askarawa’ killed by Bandits

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed deep shock and concern over the tragic attack on members of the state’s Community Protection Guards (CPG) nicknamed Askarawa which claimed the lives of nine guards. The incident occurred on Monday, following an ambush by fleeing bandits.

In a statement released by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau, the APC extended its condolences to the bereaved families, while commending the sacrifice made by the CPG members in their effort to restore peace to the region.

“We join other well-meaning citizens to condole the state government and console the family members of the gallant CPG guards,” the statement read.

The APC also emphasized that the ambush would not go unpunished, expressing confidence in the ongoing military operations in the North-West. The party called on the federal government, through the Ministry of Defence, to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they face justice.

In addition, the party urged the state government to provide assistance to the families of the fallen guards, while encouraging the CPG to remain vigilant despite the unfortunate loss. The statement also appealed to communities across Zamfara to cooperate with security forces by reporting any suspicious movements of bandits in order to prevent future attacks.

The APC concluded by praying for the souls of the deceased, asking Allah to grant them eternal peace in Jannaatul Firdausi.
