At least four persons have been confirmed dead, one abducted, and seven others injured following renewed attacks by armed bandits on Birnin Zauma community in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Media Smarts Nigeria can authoritatively report that the attacks occurred over two consecutive days, Tuesday and Wednesday, June 24 and 25, 2025.
Eyewitnesses say the bandits stormed the riverine settlement in large numbers, unleashing mayhem on residents and causing widespread panic.
Apart from the loss of lives and the abduction, several homes and shops were also said to have been looted during the attacks.
Reacting to the incident, the Zamfara State Government extended its condolences to the affected families and the people of Birnin Zauma.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, the government described the attacks as tragic and senseless.
The government vowed to take measures to crush the menace of banditry.
