
The Zamfara State Government has convened a high-level security meeting with heads of security and paramilitary agencies as part of efforts to ensure a peaceful and secure Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the state.

The meeting, chaired by the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, was held on Tuesday in Gusau and formed part of proactive measures initiated by Governor Dauda Lawal to review the security situation and strengthen safety arrangements ahead of the Sallah festivities.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by Suleman Ahmad Tudu, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the SSG.During the meeting, security agencies briefed the state government on strategies already in place to safeguard residents throughout the festive period.

According to the briefing, about 1,474 personnel drawn from the Police, Civil Defence Corps, intelligence units, Road Safety Corps and Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams will be deployed across the state. The teams will focus on surveillance, intelligence gathering, patrol operations and traffic management across the 14 local government areas.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit, which specializes in handling bomb and explosive threats, will also be part of the security architecture aimed at preventing any security breach during the celebrations.
Addressing the security chiefs, Nakwada said the meeting was convened at the instance of the governor to assess security trends in the state and evaluate preparedness before, during and after the Sallah festivities.
He commended security personnel for their commitment to protecting lives and property and assured them of the state government’s continued support despite limited resources.
Nakwada also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, stressing that ensuring safety is a collective responsibility.
He further called on traditional and religious leaders, particularly chief imams, to intensify sermons that promote unity, peace and harmonious coexistence among communities.

The SSG also congratulated the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, on his recent promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police and prayed for divine guidance in his new role.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner of Police, the Director of the State Security Service, representatives of the 1 Brigade Command, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Federal Road Safety Corps and other relevant government officials.
