Commandant Sani Mustapha addressing Journalists

In a press briefing, the Zamfara State NSCDC Commandant, Sani Mustapha, confirmed the arrest and emphasized that the Corps upholds integrity in its service delivery, maintaining strict adherence to ethical standards. He added that Sarkin-Tasha had previously been reported for truancy and absenteeism before his detention by the police.

According to initial reports, Sarkin-Tasha was arrested at a checkpoint between Damba and Sabon Gida while en route to his hometown, Mada. He was allegedly found in possession of cannabis, other illicit drugs, and military-grade items, including three G3 rifle magazines and an anti-rocket launcher.

Commandant Mustapha disclosed that the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has condemned the officer’s alleged involvement in criminal activities and has ordered immediate administrative action, including possible dismissal if Sarkin-Tasha is still listed on the Corps’ nominal roll. He stressed that the officer’s actions do not represent the values of the NSCDC, either in Zamfara or across the country.
