The National Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has approved July 12, 2025, as the date for the Zamfara State Council elections.
This was confirmed in a letter signed by the NUJ National Secretary, Achike Chude, and addressed to the Chairman and Secretary of the state Credentials Committee.
The letter noted that the approval followed the union’s constitution, citing Article 3 on membership, Article 4a on finance, and Article 7b on elections, affirming the committee’s clearance process.
The National Secretariat commended the committee for its efforts and praised Zamfara NUJ members for conducting themselves with decorum. It encouraged them to maintain peaceful conduct as the elections approached.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Credentials Committee, Comrade Dahiru Samaila Mafara, called on candidates to conduct their campaigns with civility and avoid any language that may incite violence or tarnish their image.
