
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Zamfara Radio Chapel, has commended Governor Dauda Lawal for appointing Alhaji Mahmud Muhammad Abdullahi as Commissioner for Information and Culture.
The union expressed its support in a communiqué issued after an emergency meeting at Zamfara Radio Gusau.
According to the communiqué signed by Chapel Chairman Sanusi Danbuga Gummi, the appointment reflects the governor’s commitment to effective governance through capable leadership in the information sector.
The union lauded the commissioner’s extensive experience and professionalism, emphasizing that his expertise would enhance information management in the state.
The NUJ assured the commissioner of its full support and urged the government to grant him the necessary autonomy to execute his duties effectively.
It also backed his stance on the positions of General Managers and Managing Directors in the state’s media houses, aligning with best practices in journalism.
Furthermore, the union condemned attempts to create division among media workers in Zamfara, reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and solidarity in the industry.
