
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted accreditation to all 28 academic programmes offered by Zamfara State University, Talata-Mafara, marking a milestone in the institution’s pursuit of academic excellence.
The accreditation exercise, conducted between February 16 and 26, 2025, culminated in a glowing report that saw 20 programmes awarded full accreditation and the remaining eight granted interim status.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Yahya A. Zakari, who made the announcement on behalf of the university’s management and senate, described the achievement as a testament to the university’s dedication to quality education and academic integrity.
“We are pleased to report that 20 of our programmes have received full accreditation with excellent scores. This affirms our commitment to delivering top-tier academic services,” Professor Zakari said.
Some of the fully and provisionally accredited programmes include BNSc. Nursing Science, BSc. Public Health, BSc. Physiotherapy, BSc. Human Nutrition and Dietetics, BSc. Computer Science, BSc. Mass Communication, BSc. Economics, BA English, BA Islamic Studies, and BEd. Primary Education, among others.
The university’s management expressed gratitude to the Zamfara State Government for its critical support, acknowledging that the availability of funds and resources played a pivotal role in meeting the NUC’s rigorous accreditation standards.Special appreciation was extended to Governor Dauda Lawal for his “unwavering commitment and responsiveness to the needs of the institution.
”The statement also recognized the efforts of faculty, staff, and students, noting that their hard work and dedication were instrumental to the successful outcome of the accreditation process.
“This achievement not only boosts the credibility of our academic offerings but also reinforces our vision of providing education that meets national and global benchmarks,” the university management said.
Zamfara State University, established to expand access to tertiary education in the state, continues to grow its academic profile with the latest accreditation validating its place among Nigeria’s emerging centers of higher learning.
