Governor Dauda Lawal has distributed fertilizers and other farm inputs to support dry-season farming in Zamfara State.
The distribution was announced in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris.

The governor officially launched the exercise on Thursday at the Fadama III facility of the Ministry of Agriculture in Gusau. According to the statement, the items distributed are aimed at improving crop yields, reducing losses, and promoting sustainable farming practices.
The items include 3,920 bags of NPK fertiliser, 1,956 bags of Urea fertiliser, 3,920 litres of herbicide, 1,956 litres of insecticide, and 3,920 sachets of seed-dressing chemicals.
Speaking at the event, Governor Lawal said the programme is part of his administration’s efforts to boost agricultural productivity, improve food security, and enhance the livelihoods of the people of Zamfara.
He noted that farming remains the backbone of the economy and that it is the government’s duty to provide farmers with the necessary support to succeed, especially during the dry season.

The governor also highlighted the role of the NG-CARES programme in strengthening the agricultural sector, noting that previous interventions had supported thousands of smallholder farmers with improved seeds, agrochemicals, and expert guidance.
He urged farmers to make good use of the inputs and assured them that his administration would continue to introduce policies and programmes to tackle challenges, including insecurity, while promoting sustainable food production across the state.
