The Zamfara State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Tukur Umar Danfulani, has expressed strong optimism that the party will reclaim power in the state and emerge victorious in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking to journalists in Gusau after the successful conclusion of the Kaura Namoda South constituency byelection, Danfulani described Zamfara as a “core APC state,” assuring that the party is better positioned, more united, and fully prepared to return to power.
The APC candidate, Hon. Kamilu Sa’idu, was declared winner of the byelection by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), a development Danfulani hailed as a reflection of the party’s growing strength and grassroots acceptance.
He commended the security agencies for ensuring a peaceful and transparent electoral process, noting that their professionalism contributed to the seamless conduct of the exercise. The party chairman also acknowledged the tireless contributions of APC stakeholders who mobilized across the six wards of Kaura Namoda South. Among them were Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu (Member, Maru/Bungudu Federal Constituency), Hon. Sulaiman Abubakar Gummi (Member, Gummi/Bukuyyum Federal Constituency), Yazid Shehu Danfulani (Managing Director, National Agricultural Insurance Commission), Senator Sahabi Alhaji Ya’i (Zamfara North), and former Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura. He said their collective efforts, alongside other party stalwarts, played a decisive role in securing the APC’s victory.
“Zamfara is an APC state, and by Allah’s will, we will reclaim it fully in 2027,” Danfulani declared.
Reflecting on the party’s past challenges, he admitted that mistakes made during the 2023 elections had been studied and addressed.
According to him, internal disputes and divisions that weakened the party’s performance have now been resolved, leaving the APC stronger and more cohesive than before.
Danfulani further extended appreciation to former governors of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar and Bello Muhammad Matawalle, describing them as pillars of support whose guidance and leadership remain vital to the resurgence of the party.
“On behalf of our members, supporters, and officials across Zamfara, I want to sincerely thank our leaders, particularly His Excellency Abdulaziz Yari and His Excellency Bello Matawalle, for their giant support.
Their sacrifices and dedication have been instrumental to our recent successes,” he added.
The APC chairman concluded by reiterating the party’s determination to consolidate its gains and position itself as the preferred choice of Zamfara people ahead of 2027.
