Discipline, character pivotal to career progression – Military secretary

The Military Secretary (Army), Major General  Folusho Oyinlola, has reiterated that discipline and character are pivotal to the career progression of officers of the Nigerian Army(NA). 

He stated this while delivering a lecture titled “Career Planning for Nigerian Army Officers” held at Lieutenant General F Yahaya Badminton Court, Port Harcourt Barracks, Rivers State. 

In a statement made available to SMARTS NEWS Acting Deputy Director, 6 Division Army Public Relations, Major Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, noted that Major General Folusho Oyinlola further stated that the lecture became necessary to enhance the capacity of the NA officers to carry out their responsibilities effectively. 

General Folusho further added that the lecture was aimed at ensuring that officers are adequately equipped with the requisite tips on how best they could enhance their career in the NA. 

In a welcome address, the  General Officer Commanding, 6 Division Nigerian Army/Land Component Commander, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, Major General Jamal Abdussalam highlighted the essence of the lecture, which he said was designed to enhance the effectiveness and professionalism of the NA officers. 

General Jamal further said that it will ensure the best officers that would meet the contemporary requirements of the profession are groomed. 

He also added that this will ensure the requisite manpower is developed,  efficiency at work, and most importantly, job satisfaction is achieved. 

The one-day event was attended by Brigade Commanders of the maneuver 2, 16 and 63 Brigades, respectively. It also had in attendance commanders of 6 Division affiliated formations and units with officers drawn from all formations and units within 6 Division Area of Responsibility.
