Zamfara Police thwarts bandits attack on Emir of Maru, bandits kill 1 abduct 1

Police have thwarted bandits’ attack at the Palace of Emir of Maru Alh Abubakar Gado Maigari in Maru local government area in Zamfara state.

Smarts News reports that the terrorists  attacked the palace in the night around 8:50 pm on Tuesday 24th October, 2023 few minutes after the emit’s arrival from a journey.

According to the sources who spoke to SMARTS NEWS from the emirate a gallant police officer on duty at the palace engaged the terrorists in a gun duel and he successfully dispersed the bandits single handedly before the arrival of the patrol team.

However, they (bandits) killed one Malam Ukashatu, a physically challenged (cripple) neighbor of the emir and abducted one IT officer of the emirate Hassan Sani Marafa.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Zamfara state police command ASP Yazid Abubakar confirmed the incident saying the Police Patrol team who swiftly responded to the distress call for reinforcement restored normalcy at the emirate and the Maru town.

On the 4th of March, 2023 the bandits attacked  Maru town and killed a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Kazeem Raheem, one police sergeant, Rabiu Bagobiri; one vigilante member Shehu Chika and abducted several people from the town.

Maru town is the headquarters of Maru local government area of Zamfara State in northern Nigeria, situated along Gusau-Sokoto federal highway in Zamfara state, blessed with an endowment of a variety of natural resources.
