COAS Commends Troops’ Resilience in Zamfara, assures of more support

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has lauded the unwavering commitment and resilience of troops from the 1 Brigade Nigerian Army in their ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and insurgency in North West Nigeria.

In a Press release signed by the Director Army Public Relations, Maj. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu said during an operational visit to the 1 Brigade Area of Responsibility in Gusau, Zamfara State, Gen Lagbaja expressed his admiration for the sacrifices made by the troops. 

The COAS was briefed by Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, the Commander of 1 Brigade, on the progress and successes achieved in Operation Desert Sanity II, spanning Zamfara and neighboring states.

Gen Lagbaja reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to supporting the Brigade with necessary combat enablers and operational resources to bolster their effectiveness in safeguarding the region.

COAS and other very senior officers boosting the troops’ morale

In a related development, Gen Lagbaja also visited Gusau Emirate and extended his gratitude to the Emir of Gusau, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Bello Sarkin Katsinan Gusau, and the local populace for their unwavering support to the troops and the Nigerian Army at large. 

He emphasized that with continued collaboration and assistance from the community, the menace of terrorism and insurgency could be overcome.

This visit underscores the Nigerian Army’s dedication to ensuring peace and security in the region, as well as its appreciation for the support of local communities in the fight against terrorism.
