Zamfara: Families of late police officers smile as IGP disburses N134.5m

The inspector general of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun disbursed One hundred and thirty four million, five hundred and fifty thousand eight hundred and twenty four Naira eighty six kobo to twenty five next of kins of deceased police officers received in Zamfara state.

Presenting the Bank checks to the beneficiaries, the IGP said the gesture was given to the families of the Police Officers’ who lost their lives while in active service in the state.

The IGP who was represented by the Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command, CP Muhammad Shehu Dalijan, noted that the cheques issued to the next of kins were part of the IGP’s welfare initiative under the Group Personal Accident, Group Life Insurance, and IGP Family Welfare Schemes of the Force.

The commissioner reiterated the IGP’s determination and commitment to ensuring the welfare of officers and men of the force whether alive or dead.

He therefore advised the beneficiaries to use the money judiciously more especially to start a business and the profits to address their academic and other financial needs, and prayed for the eternal rest of the departed officers and expressed hope that their families would find the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

Some of the beneficiaries, Hauwa’u Ibrahim and Lawrence Douglas, who spoke on behalf of others appreciated the efforts of the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command in bringing succor to their condition and vowed to make judicious use of the funds.
