Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, was thrown into a political frenzy on Friday as a mammoth crowd welcomed former Governor and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, during his homecoming visit to meet key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Matawalle, who arrived the state on Thursday, held a high-powered consultative meeting with APC stalwarts from all 14 local government areas. He described the gathering as a strategic homecoming aimed at strengthening unity, rebuilding trust, and consolidating loyalty within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The session drew together former deputy governors, serving and former senators, members of the House of Representatives, state lawmakers, and a long list of party heavyweights. They all reaffirmed their resolve to speak with one voice, rebuild internal cohesion, and reclaim Zamfara State for the APC.
In a major highlight of the event, Matawalle presented an endorsement letter unanimously signed by APC executives across the 14 LGAs in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid.
“I received this letter from the APC executives of all our local governments, unanimously endorsing my father, my leader, my President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term,” Matawalle announced, promising to personally deliver the document to the President in Abuja.

The Minister also disclosed that the Federal Government has injected more than ₦1 trillion into Zamfara State in the last two years, noting that records of the interventions would soon be made public. “We will make the documents available to set the record straight,” he assured.
Key issues discussed at the meeting included party unity, sincerity of purpose, loyalty, and renewed dedication to repositioning the APC as the dominant political force in Zamfara.
Matawalle is scheduled to continue his homecoming tour on Saturday with a visit to Maradun, his hometown, where he is expected to meet with supporters and grassroots party members.
