Lawmaker Faru Joins APC, Says PDP Has Failed Zamfara

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially received Hon. Maharazu Salisu Faru, member representing Maradun 2 Constituency at the State House of Assembly, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The development was disclosed in a statement by the APC Publicity Secretary in the state, Yusuf Idris Gusau, in Gusau.

The defection ceremony, held at the APC Secretariat, attracted a large crowd and was chaired by the party’s state chairman, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani. Faru was accompanied by five ward chairmen, other PDP officials, and hundreds of supporters from his constituency.

Hon. Faru said he left the PDP because Governor Dauda Lawal failed to fulfill campaign promises, particularly on insecurity and fairness to party members. He accused the state government of neglecting his constituency and favoring a select few, saying things have gone “from bad to worse.”

In his remarks, APC Chairman Danfulani commended Faru’s decision, noting that the continuous influx of respected politicians into the party shows growing confidence in the APC’s leadership at both state and national levels. He assured the new members of equal treatment and fairness.
