Former Zamfara State Governor and Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has distributed over N500 million to All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters across the state as part of a Ramadan welfare package.
The financial support, announced by the minister’s Special Adviser on Political Matters, Hon. Ibrahim Danmaliki Gidan Goga, includes N100,000 for 200 individuals in each of the 14 local government areas, totaling over N500 million shared to the beneficiaries.
Additionally, 24 stakeholders from Zamfara West each received N250,000, while 10 stakeholders from Zamfara Central and Zamfara North were also given N250,000 each.
Speaking to journalists in Gusau, Gidan Goga explained that the initiative aims to ease the financial burden of fasting for APC loyalists during Ramadan.
Unlike other politicians who distribute foodstuffs, he said, Matawalle opted for cash donations to give beneficiaries the freedom to address their specific needs.
“This is strictly for APC supporters who were carefully selected by party officials and submitted to the minister for Ramadan assistance,” he emphasized.
The disbursement process is ongoing, and according to the adviser, all payments will be completed soon as over 8 local government area already received the gesture.
This marks the second consecutive year that Matawalle has provided Ramadan relief to APC supporters. Last year, he selected 100 beneficiaries from each of the 14 local government areas, awarding them N100,000 each.
The massive cash disbursement revealed the Matawalle’s continued influence in Zamfara’s political landscape, especially within the APC.
