In a bid to cushion the economic effects of the current situation, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has authorized the disbursement of a leave grant to civil servants as a Ramadan bonus.
Commencing Wednesday, civil servants across Zamfara State, both at the state and local government levels, have begun receiving their leave grant, equivalent to 10% of their annual salary.
According to Sulaiman Bala Idris, the spokesperson for the governor, the initiative underscores the commitment of Governor Lawal’s administration to prioritize the welfare of workers amidst prevailing economic challenges.
He highlighted the governor’s track record of prioritizing workers’ welfare, citing instances such as clearing outstanding salaries, settling gratuity arrears, and approving a 13th-month salary.
“In light of the economic circumstances facing the country, Governor Lawal has deemed it fit to extend gratitude to civil servants and political appointees for their dedication and hard work.
“The disbursement of the leave grant serves as a testament to the governor’s unwavering commitment to the well-being of Zamfara State residents.” He said
Idris further disclosed that payments for leave grants have already been disbursed to both state and local government workers and pensioners, while political appointees have received additional bonuses to aid them during the holy month of Ramadan.
The move has been widely welcomed by the beneficiaries, who see it as a timely intervention to alleviate financial strain during the festive period.
