Kebbi Govt to complete ongoing, abandoned industrial projects

Kebbi State Government has affirmed its commitment to ensure completion of all ongoing and abandoned Industrial projects across the state.

The State Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar gave the assurance while inspecting ongoing Groundnut Oil Shared Facility Factory and Flour Mill as well as abandoned Perkeb Ceramic/Plastic Company at Bulasa industrial layout in Birnin Kebbi today the 5th of July, 2023.

In a statement signed and made available to SMARTS NEWS by the Press Secretary, Office of the deputy governor,Murtala M. Gotomo said the Deputy governor assured the present administration’s commitment to ensure that  all abandoned projects are completed and commissioned for job creation and revenue generation for the state.

He lamented on how the projects were abandoned and directed the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to immediately forward its submission for further action.

While conducting the Deputy governor and Secretary to the State Government (SSG) round the Groundnut OIL Shared Facility the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Ahmed Yarima Dakingari mentioned that;

“the machineries which were earlier brought by the Federal government need access road, electricity and installation costs by state government, for the company to start operations.”

Ahmed Yarima Dakingari explained that the groundnut oil company, which has the capacity of processing ten tons of groundnut as raw materials per day, will produce oil and cakes.

Similarly at Perkeb Ceramic/Plastic Company, the Permanent Secretary told the Deputy Governor that the Factory required building renovation, turnaround maintenance  and raw materials to take off. 

He informed the Deputy governor that the company, if  put in use, will produce non-breakable ceramics, kitchen wares, PVC pipes, mosquito nets and other products.

The Permanent Secretary further said the Perkeb Ceramic/Plastic Company project was a joint venture between the Kebbi State government and an Iranian Company named: Pella Melamin Kashan International Company.

The team also inspected the ongoing state  Flour Mill under construction which has reached an advanced stage of completion.

The Deputy Governor was accompanied to the inspection by Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafidan Yauri, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Ahmed Yarima Dakingari and other officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
