PDP’s Kabiru Amadu Wins Gusau/Tsafe federal constituency seat in Zamfara

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has today (Sunday) declared Kabiru Amadu of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency in the just concluded supplementary elections held on Saturday.

Announcing the result, Dr. Aliyu Usman Moyi of Federal University Gusau, said Amadu Kabiru scored 63,589 votes cast, while his main opponent, Sanusi Garba Rikiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 52,495 votes.

With this victory, PDP’s Kabiru Amadu who has been in the green chamber in 2019 therefore seals a second term to represent the constituency in Nigeria’s 10th assembly.

It could be recalled that in 2019, Sanusi Garba (APC), who was a 2-term Speaker of Zamfara State House of Assembly was initially declared winner of Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency before Nigeria’s Apex Court ordered INEC to issue certificate of return to all candidates who came in second place. The judgement was therefore in favour of Mr Amadu alongside all other PDP candidates in the state.
