Obasanjo Commends Gov. Lawal’s Projects in Zamfara

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has praised Governor Dauda Lawal for transforming Zamfara State with impactful infrastructure and healthcare projects.

Obasanjo, who was in Gusau on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, commissioned the newly renovated Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, as well as Zannah Road to Abarma Road and Tsalha Bungudu to Kwanar Birnin Ruwa Road.

He expressed surprise and delight at the installation of modern medical equipment, including a CT scan and MRI machine, a first for the state. He noted that even some teaching hospitals lack such functioning facilities.

“I am proud to commission this remodelled and reequipped hospital. Governor Lawal is turning Zamfara into a modern state,” Obasanjo said.

Governor Lawal, in his speech, thanked Obasanjo for accepting the invitation and described the former president as a friend of Zamfara, especially due to his interest in agriculture.

He explained that the specialist hospital had undergone complete expansion and renewal, including construction of new buildings like Obstetrics and Gynecology (O&G), Radiology, and Laboratory Complexes, and upgrading of 14 major departments with modern equipment and facilities.

The governor emphasized that the hospital is now well-equipped to handle complex medical cases, train healthcare personnel, and support medical research.

The roads commissioned are expected to ease movement, improve access to health services, and boost development in Gusau and surrounding areas.
