Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has officially commissioned the newly renovated and equipped General Hospital in Kauran Namoda, signaling a significant milestone in his administration’s plan to revitalize the state’s healthcare system.
The facility, which serves the Kauran Namoda local government area and surrounding communities, has been upgraded with a range of modern medical equipment.
According to a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the hospital now boasts advanced diagnostic tools, delivery beds, ECG machines, a centrifuge, blood mixing machines, an automatic hematology analyzer, an electronic weighing system, and an LED theatre operating lamp, among others.
Governor Lawal, speaking at the inauguration, emphasized that the refurbishment of the Kauran Namoda General Hospital aligns with his administration’s broader commitment to revitalizing the state’s ailing infrastructure, particularly in the healthcare sector.
He noted that the health sector is a critical pillar in his six-point transformation agenda, which also prioritizes education and security.
“Our objective in revitalizing hospitals is to ensure that quality healthcare services are available to our people, whether in rural communities or urban and semi-urban centers,” Governor Lawal said.
He highlighted the strategic importance of renovating health centers in key towns like Kauran Namoda, which acts as a crucial healthcare hub for surrounding communities.
Over the past 14 months, Governor Lawal’s administration has focused on improving the health sector through the renovation and upgrading of hospitals and primary healthcare centers statewide.
Upcoming initiatives include recruiting and training additional healthcare workers, procuring essential drugs and equipment, and launching free maternal and child health services.
These efforts aim to significantly reduce maternal and infant mortality rates and improve overall health outcomes in Zamfara.
The renovation project at the Kauran Namoda General Hospital included the complete overhaul of the facility, installation of a 32 kW solar power system, 25 streetlights, and the provision of essential medical equipment.
Governor Lawal expressed confidence that the newly upgraded hospital will offer affordable and quality healthcare services to residents of Kauran Namoda and neighboring towns and villages.
