The people of Sokoto state have been urged to complement the efforts of the state governor, His Excellency, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, in the areas of healthcare delivery, environmental sanitation, provision of potable drinking water, and infrastructural development.
The call was made by a philanthropist and medical consultant, Dr. Bello Mode Dange. He made the call recently while providing some healthcare services to needy persons in the state.
Dr. Mode Dange further applauded the laudable efforts of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for taking a giant stride in eradicating environmental-related diseases by constituting a powerful committee saddled with the responsibility of ensuring a clean environment in the state and its environs.
“The state government under the leadership of Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto has taken the right direction aimed at ensuring effective public health by working round the clock to ensure environmental sustainability through evacuation of the heap of refuse that hitherto taken over the major roads and streets of the state.
“Not only that the governor has taken drastic measures in addressing the shortage of potable drinking water in the state. This development will certainly go a long way in preventing the possible outbreak of cholera and other environmental and water-borne diseases, especially in this rainy season,” he enthused.
Dr. Dange added that lack of a clean environment and portable drinking water posed serious health risks to public health. He, therefore, reiterated the need for people of the state to always keep their environment clean, evacuate drainages and dump their refuse in the designated trash compartments provided.
