PDP Berates Zamfara Lawmaker’s Defection

The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the defection of Hon. Marahazu Faru, member representing Maradun Constituency in the State House of Assembly, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not affect the party’s strength in the state.

In a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Halliru Andi, the PDP described the defection as a personal choice that would soon be regretted, stressing that the party remains deeply rooted in the hearts of Zamfara people.

The statement noted that the APC government was responsible for the insecurity, hunger, and corruption that had plagued the state, adding that the PDP-led administration of Governor Dauda Lawal is rebuilding institutions and restoring public confidence.

According to the party, Hon. Faru’s defection is a setback for himself and not for the PDP, which it described as the only party with genuine commitment to rescuing and rebuilding Zamfara State.

The statement urged members and supporters to remain united and resolute, assuring them that the PDP would continue to deliver progress and compassion to the people of Zamfara.
