Security Forces Thwart Bandits’ Maru Invasion

The Zamfara State Police Command has successfully stopped armed bandits from launching an attack on Maru town in the early hours of today (Sunday), thereby averting a planned mass kidnapping.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, speaking for the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, said the action followed prompt and reliable intelligence reports.

He explained that a combined security team made up of the Police, Military, Community Protection Guards, and Vigilante Groups quickly mobilised and intercepted the attackers as they attempted to enter the town.

The bandits were engaged by the security operatives and were forced to withdraw with suspected gunshot wounds. The operation was carried out without any loss of life or recorded abductions.

Following the incident, security presence has been strengthened in Maru and nearby areas to forestall any further criminal activity.

CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba praised the dedication and professionalism of the security personnel and reassured residents of the Command’s resolve to ensure the safety of lives and property, urging the public to continue cooperating with security agencies.
