Senator Yari expands scholarship for Zamfara students

Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has expanded his scholarship initiative to support more students from Zamfara State in pursuing higher education.

Chairman of the initiative, Senator Tijjani Yahaya, disclosed this while handing over 50 newly sponsored students to Al-Istiqama University, Sumaila, Kano State, on Tuesday.

He stated that the expansion reflects Yari’s commitment to helping underprivileged students achieve their academic goals.

The new beneficiaries, drawn from the 14 local government areas of the state, will receive full scholarships covering tuition, accommodation, and a monthly stipend.

This is in addition to 100 students previously sponsored to study health-related courses at Green Garden School of Health Technology, Gusau.

Professor Sha’aya Shehu, who represented Yahaya at the event, said the choice of institutions aligns with the initiative’s goal of fostering human capital development in Zamfara, particularly in the health sector.

Speaking on behalf of the students, Naziru Malam Hassan Gummi expressed gratitude to Yari for rekindling their hopes of higher education, while Aisha Sa’idu, a female beneficiary, pledged to excel academically in appreciation of the gesture.

Receiving the students, Al-Istiqama University’s Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Kabiru Muhammad Kofa, thanked Yari for the partnership and assured the students of quality academic and moral training.

Officials of the initiative later toured the university’s facilities and signed a memorandum of understanding with the institution.

The 150 students newly sponsored under this expansion join 1,700 others already benefiting from the initiative in various public universities across the Northwest.
