
In a major effort to tackle youth unemployment and improve healthcare in his constituency, Hon. Abdulmalik Zubairu Zannan Bungudu, Member of the House of Representatives for Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency, has unveiled a ₦64 million empowerment programme known as the “Zannan Bungudu Lafiya Jari Project.
”Launched in collaboration with the Strategic Committee for Community Development and Empowerment (SCOCODE), the initiative is designed to support unemployed graduates from health-related fields across Bungudu and Maru local governments.
The programme established 31 medicine outlets, 21 for human healthcare and 10 for veterinary purposes, distributed across the two LGAs. Each outlet is managed by two trained beneficiaries, making a total of 62 empowered youths.According to the lawmaker’s media aide, Aminu Lawal Bungudu, all shops were rented, fully stocked, and are ready for immediate operation. Committees have also been set up to handle monitoring, evaluation, legal matters, and supervision to ensure smooth implementation.
He further explained that after six to twelve months, these committees will submit performance reports to determine whether beneficiaries will take full ownership of the shops.The project was officially flagged off by former Information Commissioner, Hon. Umar Jibo Bukuyyum, who represented the lawmaker. He encouraged the beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity and serve their communities with pride and responsibility.
“You’ve waited long for a chance like this. Use it wisely and let your impact be felt. If you succeed, others will benefit too,” he relayed on behalf of Zannan.
Also present was Zamfara APC Chairman, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani, represented by Welfare Secretary, Alh. Bashir Idris Ataka, who praised Hon. Zannan’s commitment to grassroots development and visible impact on constituents.
Several beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude. Mansura Danjari, from Kwatarkwashi ward, said the initiative came at a time of great need. “This has restored our hope. I’ll do my best to make Zannan proud,” she pledged.
The Lafiya Jari Project is part of Hon. Zannan’s broader strategy to combat unemployment and improve health access while nurturing a more self-reliant youth population.
