Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) have killed dozens of terrorists in a combined air and ground operation at the Makakkari general area of Gando Forest, Bukkuyum Local Government Area, Zamfara State, on August 10, 2025.
This was contained in a statement made available to Radio Nigeria in Gusau by Captain David Adewusi, Media Information Officer of OPFY, saying, the operation was launched after credible intelligence revealed a large gathering of terrorists loyal to the late Halilu Buzu and Alhaji Beti.
The terrorists were allegedly preparing to attack Adabka and Nasarawan Burkullu farming communities in Bukkuyum LGA in revenge for their recent losses to security forces and hybrid units.
Following the aerial bombardment, OPFY Sector 2 ground troops intercepted and killed several fleeing terrorists attempting to escape from the forest.
The force reassured residents that terrorists and other armed groups will have no safe haven in the North West and parts of the North Central region. It urged the public to support security efforts by reporting suspicious movements, stressing that timely intelligence is crucial to defeating banditry and terrorism.
