The Sokoto State Police Command has presented cheques totaling ₦29,638,584.78 to 10 families of police officers who died or sustained injuries in the line of duty.

This was disclosed in a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, and made available to journalists in Sokoto.

The presentation was made on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad Musa, by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, DCP Umar Sokoto, alongside members of the command’s management team.

The funds, provided under the Group Life Assurance Scheme, are meant to ease the financial burden of the affected families and recognise the sacrifices of the officers in service to the nation.

DCP Umar advised beneficiaries to use the money wisely, urging them to invest in ventures that would support their families in the long term.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Hamimatu Ahmad, widow of a deceased officer, thanked the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his compassion and leadership, describing the gesture as timely and reassuring.

The Sokoto State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of serving and retired officers, as well as the families of those who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
