Police Arrest Notorious Bandits in Zamfara Operation

The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested members of a notorious armed criminal gang terrorizing residents of the Kasuwan Daji area in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area. Operatives of the Command’s Violence Crime Response Unit successfully carried out the operation on May 29, 2026, following credible intelligence.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Yazid Abubakar, the suspects arrested during the operation include Hassan Dan Kure, Dahiru Lawali, and the alleged gang leader, Ali Bahago, whose syndicate had already been on the police watchlist. Preliminary investigations revealed that the group had been heavily linked to various criminal activities within the area. One member of the gang was also neutralized during the encounter.

Following a search conducted at the residence of the gang leader, police operatives recovered a significant cache of weapons and items. The recovered exhibits include a pump-action gun, a single-barrel gun, a fabricated G3 rifle, two Dane guns, a locally made pistol, several rounds of ammunition, cartridges, a handcuff chain, and three Boxer motorcycles.

The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate and recover more weapons. The state command assured the public that efforts are ongoing to dismantle the rest of the criminal network.

The Zamfara State Police Command reiterated its commitment to combating armed criminality and ensuring the safety of residents across the state. The police also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to help eliminate crime.
