The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria-D7G (DICON–D7G) has announced a major achievement in its local weapons manufacturing drive, revealing that it has successfully assembled nearly 1,000 units of its DG-103 rifle which is an upgraded version of the AK-103 within the first two months of commencing production in Kaduna.

This was made known during a media briefing at the company’s Abuja headquarters by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Osman Chennar.
According to Mr. Chennar, all rifles produced in the first batch have undergone comprehensive testing and certification, meeting the operational standards required by the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies.
He further stated that the company is also producing drones and anti-drone systems designed to provide early-warning capabilities that can support military units during field operations.

“With full operations now underway, our target is to achieve an annual production capacity of sixty million rounds of ammunition,” he added, emphasizing DICON–D7G’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s defence ecosystem.
Speaking on behalf of the CEO, retired Major General MA Masanawa announced that the company is set to acquire a military jetty in Lagos by February 2026. The proposed facility will include a production line, warehouses, and staff accommodation.
He noted that the acquisition is expected to significantly boost local production capacity and open new opportunities for exporting defence equipment to neighbouring African countries. In addition, plans are underway to establish a shipyard at the facility for the servicing and maintenance of naval vessels.

DICON–D7G, a key player in Nigeria’s renewed hope agenda for defence industrialization, says these developments mark only the beginning of broader efforts to reduce foreign dependence and enhance national security readiness.
