Gov Dauda Appoints Abdulkadir as New Emir of Gusau

Governor Dauda Lawal has approved the appointment of Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello as the new Emir and Sarkin Katsina of the Gusau Emirate.

The Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, announced the appointment in a statement issued on Tuesday, stating that it followed the traditional recommendation of the Gusau Emirate kingmakers and complied with relevant customs and laws.

Alhaji Abdulkadir becomes the 16th Emir of the Gusau Emirate, succeeding his late father, His Royal Highness Dr. Ibrahim Bello, who passed away on July 25, 2025, after ten years on the throne.

Until his appointment, the new Emir held the traditional title of Bunun Gusau and is the eldest son of the late monarch.

Governor Lawal congratulated the new Emir and urged him to carry on the legacy of his forefathers, especially that of his ancestor, Malam Sambo Dan Ashafa.

He also called on the Emir to foster unity, peace, and development across the emirate.
