REVIVING OUR WANING CULTURAL HERITAGE: KAURAN NAMODA SETS THE PACE AS GOVERNOR DAUDA LAWAL PAVES THE WAY
BY SANI AHMED SAMBO

In a majestic display of cultural heritage, Governor Dauda Lawal graced the ancient town of Kauran Namoda, elegantly dressed in marvelous royal attire, echoing the saying, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.” This was all part of the Eid al-Fitr traditional horse riding Durba, a celebration meticulously organized by the Kauran Namoda Emirate.

Welcoming the Governor with open arms and warm hearts, Emir of Kauran Namoda, HRH Dr. Sanusi Mohd Ahmad Asha, remarked, “A new broom sweeps clean,” expressing Zamfara’s joy at having a development-oriented Governor.

Kauran Namoda has reaped the benefits of his numerous projects and initiatives, warranting a grand salute through the Durba event.

Emir Sanusi Asha then invited Governor Dauda Lawal to a dignified horse riding procession, heralding a new era under a leader who understands that “Old ways and new ways put together will certainly open new doors.”
Governor Dauda possesses the wisdom to meld tradition and modernity, fostering social cohesion and mutual understanding among diversed people of Zamfara state.

Such efforts breathe life into our waning cultural practices, preserving our history and uniting us as a people.

The crowning moment of the event was the official commissioning of the newly rebuilt Kofar Modomawa, a traditional gate standing for more than 217 years as a sentinel in the heart of Kauran Namoda town, reminding us that of the popular adage “Every gate has its own key.”

With honor and pride, Governor Dauda Lawal commissioned the gate and was the first to enter, symbolizing a triumphant entry in our battle against the dreaded banditry that the present administration combats tirelessly, as they say, “United we stand, divided we fall.”

Accompanying the Governor were soeaker Zamfara state House of Assembly RT Hon Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Nakwada, Chief of Staff Mukhtar Lugga, Commissioners, Special Advisers and other top Government officials, standing shoulder to shoulder in this noble endeavor.
