Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has donated N20 million to aid the affected victims. The disaster, which resulted from heavy downpour, destroyed homes, farmlands, animals, and food supplies across the area.
The minister’s donation and message of solidarity were conveyed through a 21-member delegation led by Zamfara State All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani.
During the visit, the minister urged the victims to see their current situation as a test from God and assured them that better days lie ahead.
The N20 million was handed over to the Emir of Gummi, Justice Lawal Hassan Gummi (rtd), at his palace. The Emir expressed his deep appreciation for the timely assistance, which he said would help the victims regain a sense of belonging and facilitate their resettlement.
He also assured that the funds would be distributed swiftly to those in need, in coordination with the emirate council’s verification process.
Dr. Matawalle reaffirmed his commitment to alleviating the suffering of the people and called on other wealthy individuals in Zamfara to support the victims, not only in Gummi but also those affected by disasters throughout the state.
The delegation included several prominent figures such as Hon. Sani Mohammed Takori, Hon. Ibrahim Umar Dangaladima, and Alhaji Bashir Idris Ataka, among others. The visit concluded with prayers led by Hon. Danfulani, asking for divine protection against future disasters in the state.
